This work, an arrangement of the 3rd movement Simple Gift (for woodwinds and percussion) from The Improving Dance - Four Episodes, was commissioned by the Showa Wind Orchestra and premiered in December 2003 under the direction of Shinta Fukumoto. With the suggestion of a melancholic character in homage to victims of the ongoing Iraqi War, this movement was written to provide a “Gift of Prayer for Peace”. Though the original suite was in entirely in dance character, the slow 6/8 waltz carries deep emotion in this tranquil work.

This orchestration for wind ensemble was suggested in 2010 by Masaaki Tanaka, band director at Osaka Koudu Junior High School. The basic structure of the piece is similar to that of the woodwind version. However, with the addition of soft, colorful brass playing, a rich and melancholic timbre was created. A gentle and peaceful character is thus reflected throughout the entire piece.
